Heat-Treating (HT) pallets to ISPM15 standards is widely considered the superior choice over methyl bromine (MB) fumigation due to its safety and sustainability. Unlike chemical treatment, heat treatment is a natural, chemical-free process that involves heating the wood core to at least 56 degrees for 30 minutes to eliminate pests and pathogens. This method is significantly more eco - friendly because it does not use OZONE DEPLETING SUBSATANCES like methyl bromide, which is heavily regulated or BANNED in many regions due to its environmental and health hazards. Furthermore, heat-treated pallets leave no toxic residues, making them safer for handling and essential for sensitive industries like Food and Pharmaceuticals. Beyond environmental benefits, Heat Treated Pallets are often more durable as the process reduces moisture content, which prevents rot and fungal growth
Chemical Exposure: HT Pallets are chemical-free; MB pallets can retain toxic residues.
Environmental Impact: MB is a known ozone depleter; heat treatment has no harmful emissions.
Reusability: HT Pallets are safe for DIY projects and recycling, whereas MB treated wood should not be burned or re purposed.
Industry Preference: Most modern supply chains priorities heat treatment to meet ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance ) goals.
